Assessment Objective AO2(iv) - Select material appropriate to your purpose and make cross- references Identify similarities and differences Select from across the whole texts Explain the reasons behind these, linked to audience and purpose

Examples of questions Describe the methods used by McVitie’s on the wrapper to sell Jaffa Cakes. To what extent do these methods avoid the criticisms made by Fay Weldon in Dull, dull, dull? Compare the ways in which words are used for effect in each item. Compare the front pages of Bella and Trout Fisherman magazines. You should write about: The pictures The print styles The layout.
