HOW TO FORMAT YOUR PAPERS

DO NOW 1.Logon to the computer 2.Go to the CSAT website- find my page-6 th grade Lit Tech, then find the Edmodo site 3.Login to Edmodo, and then minimize it. 4.Open the How to format your paper PowerPoint

WHAT IS “FORMAT”? The way in which something is arranged or set out.

Always change the font to 12, unless directions say otherwise!

Change the spacing to 2.0, which means it will be double spaced

CREATE YOUR HEADING

FORMATTING IN 3 STEPS 1.Change your font to size 12 2.Change your spacing to Type your heading 1.Title 2.Name 3.Date 4.Indent your paragraph using tab

Let’s Practice… 1.Open a Word Document 2.Create your heading 3.The title will be Journal Entry #1 Every family has their own culture and traditions which make us unique. Tell me in 2-3 paragraphs about some of the traditions that you do with your family. Remember to use details in your journal entry. I will be checking to see if you put a proper heading and followed directions.

Journal Entry #1 Miss Jones 11/17/14 Every December the women in family gather together to keep our annual tradition of making cookies. While the men in the family gather around the TV to watch football, all of ladies grab an apron and begin the baking process. We use a recipe that has been passed through our family for several different generations, that comes from my great, great grandmother. Each year our cut out cookies get better and better! We have 100’s of different cookie cutters to represent each of our hobbies and interests. We even decorate cookies for our dogs! It isn’t our tradition without tasting the cookies as we go along. We need to make sure they taste yummy. We also always get into a flour war which makes a big mess. But most of all our tradition is filled with lots of love, laughter, and of course, sugar!
