Title: Effect of prenatal care in pregnancy and delivery method Beigi.M, Afghari.A, Javanmardi.Z MSc, Department of midwifery,School of Nursing & Midwifery, Isfahan University of Medical sciences

Background: In recent years,quality defects in prenatal care pregnancy, reduces the level of awareness, knowledge and attitude of pregnant women. So that the majority of pregnant women in childbirth do not have decision- making power over the choice of delivery method, So that today, although vaginal delivery is safer and more benefits mix, most experts selected cesarean birth for delivery. This process is critical in terms of delivery cause many complications for the mother and infant.

Background: This study aimed to improve maternal and child health, so prepared prenatal care logbook & them were redirected in accordance log book, its impact on knowledge and attitude of pregnant women for Select a delivery method.that will recognize weaknesses of previous surveillance programs led to increased caesarean sections, followed by the specified defects related services to the mother & baby.

MATERIAL& METHOD: This study is clinical trial research. Samples selected from the mothers referred to private clinics, gynecologists and obstetric offices, which did not use the services of the public sector.90 women randomly chosen, in two groups Cases and controls. Pregnancy outcome in cases after providing prenatal care log book prepared by the researchers and controls provided by the physician or midwife during pregnancy with the cards was also assessed. The tool of data collections was standard questionnaire and for data analysis were used, methods descriptive and inferential statistics (chi-square).

Results: Results showed that the highest frequency of vaginal delivery group (receiving maternal care log book, with 49 percent) and the highest rate of caesarean sections in the control group (receiving prenatal care cards, with 66 per cent). Therefore, already exist significant relationship between care and normal delivery using this log book with ( p=0.01)

Discussion: As a result of this study showed that use of the guide logbook for pregnant women affected on knowledge and attitudes of women to make decisions that the delivery method, their knowledge regarding the physiological birth process and informed choice for the type of delivery increases as well. This process can reduce mortality or disability after cesarean section.
