Presentation transcript:

Geospatial Research, Education and Technology (Geospatial) Breakout Group Summary  Is the current strategic focus of the Network appropriate?  Integrating research, technology across the 23 CSU campuses to facilitate coastal geospatial research and training.  What should the Network’s priorities be?  Working on a balance between research & teaching  Online Data Portal.  Online teaching examples.

Geospatial Research, Education and Technology (Geospatial) Breakout Group Summary  What do you want the network to do for you?  Provide mentorship & training  CSU wide equipment sharing  Identify/web links to geospatial data assets within  What existing efforts can we leverage to grow the network efficiently and effectively in the short-term?  GIS specialty center  Grant proposals, visiting speakers, tutorials

 How can we build capability over the long-term?  Establish nodes for equipment to be used regionally.  Be recognized for the work that is ongoing,  compile a set up white papers to share with policy makers, develop data portals  What topic(s) would you like to see addressed in a special network workshop next year? Would you travel to attend if COAST paid part or all of the travel cost?  Spatial stats & modeling, data visualization, LIDAR  Educational modules with a field component to inspire instruction: field to finish, could be both student &/or faculty oriented Geospatial Research, Education and Technology (Geospatial) Breakout Group Summary
