Index  Research motivations  Literature review  Research questions  Method

Research motivations  The principal goals of museum and Civic Art Gallery organizations are: development of cultural tourism  One of the most growth sector; partnership, sponsor and marketing activities  through which they establish relationships between public and private organizations; development of activities with the participation of municipalities.  The possibility to carry out these tasks depend on the establishment of a network of relationships and on the internal organization of museums and Civic Art Galleries

Literature review  Two broad approaches: Coleman’s approach to social capital; Burt (1992) presents a new approach that emphases the importance of open rather than closer networks. Structural hole indicates the separation between no redundant contacts. According to Burt (1992), contacts are redundant to the extend that they lead to the same agents, and so provide the same information benefits  In closer networks, each relationship puts the agent in contact with the same agents reached through the other relationships, on consequence, information are available for each firm in the network and each firm has the same information benefits.

Literature review  Reagans e Zukerman (2001), through an analysis of 200 industrial firms, showed that when the firm organization is represented by a a homogeneous whole of people, in term of background, training and education, the firm performances are greater with respect to the case in which the firm organization is characterized by a heterogeneous whole of people

Research questions  How are the networks of relationships of Museums and Civic Art Galleries? There are closer networks or structural holes?  There is a relationship between the Museum and Civic Art Gallery executive council composition and their performances?

Method  A survey that will start from the art museum of Trento e Rovereto (MART) and art Civic Gallery of Trento;  The survey has two goals:  To define the network of relationships of MART and Civic Gallery;  To investigate the executive council composition and the relationship with the museum and civic art gallery performances.
