Application Process… 4 The admissions process to the College is separate and in addition to admission to the university. 4 To apply to the College, you must attend a College of Education Orientation. 4 Students are only eligible to attend this event once their prerequisites have been successfully completed.

College of Education Orientation Transfer Students Only 4 USF conducts a mandatory university Orientation each semester. All new students to the university must attend this orientation. 4 The College of Education Orientation is a portion of this event. Therefore, both the USF and College orientations can be completed the same day. 4 Upon acceptance to USF, students receive an Orientation packet including registration materials.

College of Education Orientation Continuing USF students Only 4 Each semester the College of Education participates in the USF Orientation. 4 Students who have previously attended the USF orientation only need to attend the College of Education Orientation. 4 You need to attend this orientation the semester before you plan to enter the College of Education. Please contact COE’s Office of Student Academic Services to RSVP for this event at (813) /EDU106

Where to go for Academic Advising… 4 Students are considered “Pre-Education” until they have submitted an application and attended a College of Ed. Orientation. 4 Pre-Education Advisors are located in the Center for Academic Advising (location: SVC2011, 813/ ).

Exit Requirements… 4 Total of 2 exit courses required for B.S. degree 4 Exit requirements can only be satisfied through credits earned at USF (no transfer credits allowed). 4 Minimum grade of C- required 4 Can be selected from Major Works/Major Issues and/or Literature and Writing 4 Several Education programs have exits built into their curriculum (program advisors have this information).

2 years in High School = Bachelor of Science 2 Semesters in College & 3 Exits = Bachelor of Arts

Disclosure of Conviction Q If you have ever been arrested, pleaded nolo contendere, or convicted, your employment and internship with the school districts might be in jeopardy. Interested in Becoming a Substitute Teacher? Hillsborough County offers free substitute training for Education students. 3 days of training (including one day of shadowing in a school) Convenient locations: Pizzo Elem. School on the USF campus You must complete the application process one week before the training starts (including fingerprinting at the Velasco Center in Ybor City). You can request an application form from Bob Menthorn’s office at 813/ Please mark your application as a USF student and indicate preferred dates of training (established dates to choose from).
