Utilizing Mnemonics in the English Classroom Quynh Nguyen

What are Mnemonics? A tool that helps a person transform or organize information to enhance its retrievability from memory (Fisher, Brozo, Frey & Ivey, 2015, p. 56).

Utilizing Mnemonics in the English Classroom To help students with spelling: “All the e’s are buried in the CEMETERY.” To help students with grammar: The Seven Conjuctions: FAN BOYS (For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So). Challenge time!!

One Last Example! “Steps of the Writing Process: Pretty Dolls Rarely Ever Punch Criminals (Pre-Write, Draft, Revise, Edit, Publish, Celebrate)” (Hayden, 2014).
