Introduction Have you ever considered graduating at a consultancy firm? At Deloitte Consulting, we advise the private sector on understanding their business. We enable the procurement function to optimize its services by reviewing and improving the processes, systems and organisation. Background The increase of global competition, changing markets, cost reduction pressure, or price volatility and scarcity of raw materials are reasons for organisations to reduce their cost base, to explore new markets or partnerships, introduce new products and services on the market, or to redesign their organisational structure to become more responsive to new trends and opportunities. Deloitte supports clients to overcome these challenges by implementing transitions that create more value. Assignment You will be examining what’s on the CPO’s agenda of our clients today What trends in Sourcing and Procurement can we distinguish and what are the typical challenges for different types of organisations? What are the future requirements for procurement to survive in this changing economic environment and to create competitive advantage? The assignment consists of desk research, a survey and some additional interviews to enrich the received data. Furthermore you will be responsible for managing the survey process and interpreting the results. The main deliverable will be an analysis of the current capabilities of organizations compared to the challenges they are facing and their strategic direction. 6 Interested? © 2013 Deloitte The Netherlands How does the sustainability imperative influence operations and what role has supply chain management to play? Introduction Have you ever considered graduating at a consultancy firm? At Deloitte Consulting, we advise the private sector on understanding their business. One of the areas of specialism is Supply Chain Strategy which aims to make supply chains more effective and efficient in delivering value for a companies. Background Sustainability is becoming a more and more important topic in business. A companies value chain is an area where typically cost can be reduced and / or higher added value can be delivered when improving in a sustainable way. Another aspect of this is the increasing (European) regulations pushing companies to increase their targets on environmental topics, resulting in companies required to comply to the regulations Assignment Map out the main points of interest concerning sustainability within the complete value chain for a specific industry (industry to be determined in collaboration with the student) Make an estimation of potential cost reductions, assess the implementation costs and return on investments for one of these opportunities Highlight the ‘softer’ advantages of a sustainable supply chain, such as inclusion in the annual sustainability report and increased brand reputation Possible publishing of this research (white paper or academic paper), with as scope to further develop the current academic theoretical framework of the sustainable operations assessment methodology by testing the theory in practice 7 Interested?
