WELCOME TO HOLLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL’S BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT TEAM UNITY

SCHEDULING AND TEAMING The rotating schedule provides students with opportunities:  to have different classes at different times during the school day  to eat lunch with students from all teams throughout the year  to meet the varied learning styles of all students  to build organizational skills A copy of the schedule is available on the Team Unity website

HOMEROOM, RESOURCE/ACTIVITY PERIOD, and CLINIC Homeroom: 8:07-8:12 AM each morning  Importance of sending in absence notes Resource/Activity Period: 8:15-8:45 AM each morning  Time for students to leave homeroom for band, chorus, orchestra, clubs, and other activities  Other students remain in homeroom to read or study silently  Students can work with individual teachers for extra help and/or to make up missed work - students need to obtain a pass  It is NOT a time to complete homework Clinic: 3:05-3:45 PM every Thursday afternoon  Students can work with individual teachers for extra help and/or to make up work  Buses are available at 4:00 PM for students

HOMEWORK Homework …  Opportunity to reinforce and extend learning experiences  Integral part of the learning process  Teachers coordinate the scheduling of assignments, tests, and projects to help children develop study and time management skills  Homework assignments are typically listed on teachers’ websites. However, we encourage students to make good use of their homework assignment book throughout the year. HMS and the TEAM UNITY WEBSITE  View team activities, homework assignments, class activities, team calendar, and school announcements  Encourage use of teachers’ websites when absent  Students can access their student account through Citrix

HOME ACCESS CENTER (H.A.C.)  View student information, keep track of student progress  Provides the opportunity to stay up-to-date on current assignments, due dates, and current grades for each class  Students and parents are encouraged to use H.A.C. throughout the year  A link to H.A.C. through the HMS website, the Team Unity website, and teacher websites NOVEMEBER CONFERENCES  Monday, November 24 h – afternoon  Tuesday, November 25 th – afternoon and evening  Wednesday, November 26 th – morning  Letters will be sent (via ) to all parents at the beginning of November to ALL Team Unity students indicating whether a conference is necessary at that time  Conferences will be scheduled ELECTRONICALLY
