Training and Meeting Updates for October and November (Slide 1 of 2) Citywide Meeting on Monday, October 22 (8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) Local Coach Meeting on Wednesday, October 24 (12:30 p.m.- 3:30 p.m.) Evening Passport on Monday, October 29 (4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.)

Calendar of Events (Slide 2 of 2) Governor’s Reading Initiative 2 Day Workshop for All Coaches on November 1 and November 2 Study Group Meetings on November 5 or November 27 New Coaches’ Training from November 5-9 Citywide Meeting from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on November 16 Evening Passport on November 19 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Governor’s One Day Workshop on November 28, 29 or 30

Waterford Program Every school site needs someone to oversee the program. This is a school decision. Literacy coaches are to remind teachers to submit Waterford monthly reports. It is not the literacy coaches’ responsibilities to input the data. Teachers and coaches can go to the LAUSD’s website to register for Waterford training.

Open Court Reading Observing the Open Court Classroom Role of the Literacy Coach Advisor

Observation Checklists Useful for both administrators, coaches and teachers. Used as a guide for administrators as they observe teachers and children using Open Court Reading.

Open Court Assessment Reports Step 1……..Teachers submit Classroom Assessment Reports to Literacy Coach. Step 2……..Literacy Coach inputs scores. Scores are used at grade level meetings to plan strategies for improvement. Step 3……..Literacy Coach prints Teacher and Grade Level Summary Reports. Reports are submitted to Principal.

“Time for Kids” Every second and third grade students will receive copies. Share copies with RSP and Special Education students. Can be used during IWT and at Inquiry Center.
