 Internet Explorer Before Firefox was released most widely used web browser by 1999 Packaged with Windows since IE had 95% usage share compared to other web browsers

 Firefox Released in 2004 In one day there were 8 million downloads creating a record More customizable

 Firefox had more capabilities compared to IE Tabbed browsing Integrated search box Third party add-ons

 When Firefox was becoming the technophiles choice web browser IE released IE7 Offered some of the features from Firefox Embraced little to no new innovations Failed the web standards test  Acid2 test

 After the release of IE7, web developers were forced to add more conditional codes to compensate the difference between the codes creating the new IE8 Acid2 compliant New features Activities assist which allows for : copying and pasting in between web pages More security touches (including searching for phishing) Crash recovery mechanism

 Firefox Popularity surpasses most web browsers Market share continues to increase  Internet Explorer Remains to have a closed source approach on web browsing No add-ons No customizations
