Folk Tales

Folk Tales a story, with no known author, that originally was passed on from one generation to another by word of mouth TYPES OF FOLK TALES: fairy tales, myths, legends, fables and tall tales

FABLE a brief story in prose or verse that teaches a moral or gives a practical lesson/moral about how to get along in life AESOP: famous Greek fable writer who lived more than 2,500 years ago Characters are usually animals who are personified (act like humans) 3 purposes of fables To entertain (by having animals talk) To inform (by teaching lessons) To influence/persuade people to change their behavior
