Presentation transcript:

Most students in these private school take business, secretarial or English language courses. Oxford is, of course, famous for its first-class education as well as its beautiful buildings. Some of the most intelligent men and women in the country live and work here. Oxford gives them what they need: a quiet atmosphere, friendly colleagues and 400 years old library, which has about 5 million books. Oxford has same of the finest architecture in Britain. Some of their colleges, chapels and libraries are there years old. It is fulling off books and precious painting. You can see there many lovely gardens, where the students can read and relax in the summer months. This university town is very beautiful. The oldest university there is Oxford. The first of its colleges was founded in The university now has thirty-five colleges and about 13 thousand students, many of them from other countries. There were no women at Oxford until When the first college of women Lady Margaret Hall, opened. Now most colleges are open to men and women. It is not easy to get a place at Oxford University to study for a degree. But outside the university there are many smaller private colleges which offer less difficult courses and where it is easy to enrol.

The exact date of founding of the Oxford university is unknown. Educating in Oxford was conducted yet from Deportation of foreigners from Parisian University in 1167 (as a result of reform of Henry II, he forbade to the English students to study in Sorbone) compelled many English students to leave from France and settle in Oxford. A historian Dzherard Wales gave lectures to the students as early as 1188, and the first mention about foreign students was in 1190, the first foreign student on documents was "Emo of Friesland". The head of university was (and is till today) a chancellor. The Non-english Students-Britishs were divided by a north (scotches) and south (Irishes and welshmen). In subsequent eyelids geographical belonging continued to influence on many students, when friendship between colleges or dormitories became a custom. Members of many monastic orders : black Friars, Franciscans, Karmility, Augustiniani, settled in Oxford in the middle of 13 century. They had influence and supported student houses. Approximately at the same time by private philanthropists colleges were created, to live as independent student's association.

An university consists of 38 colleges, and also 6 dormitories - the closed educational establishments belonging to the religious orders without status of college. Examinations, most lectures and laboratory employments are organized centralized, and colleges conduct private lessons with students and seminars. Now more than 20 thousand students study in Oxford, about fourth from them - foreign. Their amount sharply increases in summer, when summer language schools are opened. A chancellor of Oxford is a sir Chris Patten. Women to Oxford began to accept only in 1920th, however already the separate educating was anniented in 70. The state of teachers of Oxford is enormous is almost 4 thousand persons, from them 70 are members of Royal society, more than 100 are members of British Academy (eng). Oxford uses the unique system of tutorish in educating - above every student the personal guardianship is founded by a specialist on the chosen speciality. Basic directions of preparation of students are humanitarian, mathematical, physical, social sciences, medicine, sciences dealing with life and environment.

In the Oxford university, in Кларендонской of laboratory, there is an electric bluebell that continuously rings from Electrostatic attractive powers are used in him, therefore for maintenance of work the very small amount of energy is spent. The dry elements of feed for a bluebell were set at his creation and hermetically inundated by molten sulphur, therefore nobody knows exactly, how exactly they are arranged. Working 170 more than an instrument is one of the protracted continuous experiments in history. The Oxford university had influence and on a culture. The suit of student is world- renowned, one of attributes of that are the Oxford "sacks".

My presentation is concluding. Now I am check, how have you listened me. My questions : 1) Where is Oxford? 2)When was the first university opened ? 3)What do the students study there? Krasnodar, Russia Kalambet Kristina 11-th form 2014 year
