CRMI II: A Platform for Cementing the Present OBJECTIVES: – Continue Capacity Development for DRR and CCA within the region – Improve Management of Knowledge of CCA and DRR – Enhance Partnerships and Resource mobilization

OUTPUT 1 RRMCs piloted and adapted throughout the region and lessons learnt documented Support the generation of new data and capture historical data on weather and the effects of climate including coastal changes Support the development of Climate Scenarios for the Caribbean SIDS (CCCCC, CIMH, INMET Cuba, UWI)

Output 2: Improve Knowledge of CCA & DRR Community of Practice (CoP) in DRR and Climate Change Adaptation conducted Scientific data translated into information useable to policy & decision makers, media at regional, national and local levels, including annual publications Education courses & awareness raising Caribbean Data bases developed and improved on DRR/CCA to inform GAR 11

Output 3: Partnership and Resource Mobilization Regional mechanisms for support to CCA & DRR management strengthened Assist countries to assess adaptation funds Conduct workshops to develop regional and national project ideas in support of DRR and CCA South-South partnership Transition of CRMI into a regional organization by end of project period

Indicative Activities Improved Modeling of climate scenarios Training events in – gender integration for disaster managers – data collection & management, including collection of sex-disaggregated data. Conduct sector specific studies on CC for one sector (agriculture tourism or coastal protection).

Indicative Activities Provide Assistantships for Master's level programmes. Replicate Risk Reduction Management Centers in 10 new countries. Create the enabling environment for delivery of CCA programmes for specific sectors in the Caribbean SIDS – E.g., working with the Climate Risk Management Project (CRM) to resource regional and national programmes.

CRMI Transition - Ideas CRMI should transition its initiatives to regional ownership through one or more regional partners CRMI should build on establishing and strengthening capacities of regional institutions to attain is broader goals From a KM stand point, it will become the leading platform (a-one-stop-shop) for linking DRR, CCA, EEG and Good Governance in the region The process begun by CRMI will continue as a programme for mainstreaming DRR & CCA into development

CRMI Transition By year 2 of this current run of CRMI, climate risk management component will be incorporated into the CRMI 2 to add leverage to the DRR and CCA mainstreaming process Encourage support for mapping necessary for DRR and CCA activities in the region CRMI 2 will be managed by a regional entity(ies). This will allow the BCPR to concentrate on other Recovery Programming in the region. The UNDP/BCPR will have a useful product for cross fertilization in other regions
