2nd International Music Olympiad in Riga 2014

The 2nd International Music Olympiad took place from 30 of April to 02 of May 2014 at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.

Opening ceremony

The contestants where students of comprehensive lower and upper secondary schools or music schools. 21 participant from 6 countries took part in the event: they represented Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia. Participants where divided into two age groups: Group I – aged 12-14, Group II – aged

The Olympiad consisted of three parts. Part I 1. Music listening and theoretical questions related to the piece. 2. Singing/playing (on their own instrument) a simple melody; clapping a rhythm exercise.

Part II – Performing a song.

Part III – Original composition.

The results of the Olympiad were assessed by an international jury.
