APEC 2012 Summit in Vladivostok September 2-9, 2012 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit took place in Vladivostok. As part of Summit preparation more than 50 infrastructure projects were implemented, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) was among them. The main objective of FEFU is professional training and formation of world-class competence centers in the spheres of breakthrough trends of science and technology.
Strategic Directions of FEFU development: Human capital investment, implementation of motivation system for students, teaching and academic staff with the goal to achieve high productivity in science and innovation; Focus on large-scale exportation of intellectual services (including educational services) into Asia-Pacific countries; Based on crucial investment projects of Far East Russia and Asia-Pacific as a whole, focus on cooperation with scientific, educational and business entities within the framework of priority directions; Based on laboratories of the Far East Division of Russian Academy of Sciences with a purpose of strengthening of FEFU research component, integration of education, research and development. High Productivity Motivation An information ecosystem has been implemented in FEFU which automates all educational, scientific and other on-campus activities. FEFU campus on Russky Island is a university township with unified infrastructure. The campus area is 200 hectares and the floor space is 948,000 square meters. The premises are built meeting the requirements of 'barrier-free environment'. The number of students will amount to 53,600. It is estimated that the teaching staff will amount to 3,400, a good deal of which will be foreign professionals.

Infrastructural ICT Projects of FEFU The first phase is to have 20,000 ports. Investment cost is US $ 10 million. In 4 rd quarter of 2013 FEFU Data Processing Center will be put into operation. The main objectives of the project are: -provision of reliable infrastructure of “Electronic University” System; -commercial ventures; - Learning programmers'. In 3st quarter of 2013 Russky Island Campus corporate network will be put into operation.
Export of Educational Services Storage and broadcasting of academic content Modern academic content storage and broadcasting means using Internet would provide access to educational material for many people regardless of their location. Joint efforts with leading telecom providers would make possible delivery of learning aids and other information where and when they are necessary.
FEFU as a Meeting Point Far Eastern Federal University has best conference and exhibition facilities in Eastern part of Russia. Congress and Exhibition Complex consists of: -a 2,000 sq.m. lobby and hall; -a 980-seat conference hall; -three symposium halls 1,000 sq.m. each; -catering facilities; - seating capacity of a hall person. In 2012 these premises already hosted nine events: APEC Summit 2012, Students Gathering, APEC summit-related seminars and several international conferences.
Russky Island Technological Cluster The Technological Cluster is being built jointly with the Administration of Primosrky Territory and Far Eastern Division of Russian Academy of Sciences. A plot of 80 hectares is allotted for this. The following FEFU facilities are too be housed there: Centre for underwater robotics Centre for energy and resource saving Wood-processing centre Small-size vessels shipyard Metal-working centre Centre for food-processing technologies
