Breakfast Definition: the first meal of the day, usually eaten in the morning Sentence: I had bacon, eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast this morning. Action: Stretch and pretend you just woke up and whisper, “I really want pancakes for breakfast this morning!”

Organism Definition: a living thing: examples are a plant, animal, virus, or bacterium Sentence: Viruses and bacteria may be very small but they are still living organisms. Action: Quietly whisper the name of your favorite organism to your neighbor. [Examples: dog, rose, redwood tree,…]

Extraordinary Definition: very unusual and deserving attention Sentence: These statues underwater, the fastest man in the world and the Duckbilled Platypus are all extraordinary! Action: Whisper to your neighbor something or someone you find extraordinary.

Earache Definition: pain in the middle or inner ear. Sentence: When I went swimming the other day, I got water in my ear. Now I have an earache. Action: Quietly whisper and tell you neighbor if you have ever had an earache.

Metamorphosis Definition: a complete or marked change of physical form Sentence: The metamorphosis is complete when the little tadpole changes into the frog. Action: Quietly pretend that you are an egg and go through the different stages to show the metamorphosis to a butterfly.

Amphibian Definition: a cold-blooded vertebrate that spends some time on land but reproduces and develops into an adult in water. Sentence: Frogs, toads, and salamanders are all amphibians. Action: Quietly and safely hop around like a frog and whisper, “Look at me, I’m an amphibian.”

Breakthrough Definition: an important new discovery, especially in science, medicine, or technology Sentence: New medical breakthroughs help find cures for diseases and help people live longer better lives. Action: Pretend to hold up a test tube of medicine and whisper, “I have had a breakthrough… I can cure the common cold!”

Bedspread Definition: a decorative covering placed on top of bedding Sentence: My parents just bought me a new red bedspread for my bedroom! Action: Pretend to pull your bedspread up around your shoulders and go to sleep.

Offspring Definition: a person's child or an animal's young Sentence: Puppies are the offspring of a dog. Action: Whisper to your neighbor that you are the offspring of your parents.

Chrysalis Definition: an insect at the stage of changing from larva to adult, during which it is inactive and encased in a hard cocoon Sentence: The butterfly came out of the chrysalis and spread its wings to dry them. Everywhere Definition: All over the place Sentence: The sun shines everywhere on the Earth’s surface, just not at one time. Action: Put your arms out and say, “ Air is everywhere, you just can’t see it.”

Zoologist Definition: life scientists who study animals, observing them in the laboratory and in their natural habitat Sentence: I love animals, so when I grow up I want to be a Zoologist. Action: Pretend to pet an animal and tell it, “Don’t worry I won’t hurt you, I’m a zoologist.”
