What is a “Green Job” Anyway? For our survey, a green job works to do at least one of the following: 1.Increase energy efficiency 2.Produce renewable energy 3.Prevent, reduce, or mitigate environmental degradation 4.Cleaning up and restore the natural environment 5.Educate, consult, and provide other services that support the above Note: To make a job green, at least one or more of these things must be an “essential function” of the job.

Green wages are spread across a wide spectrum, but very few green jobs pay very low wages…
Two-thirds of green jobs require no education beyond high school. About one-third of green jobs require some kind of special license / certificate. Some jobs have more than one special requirement.
As is true with the whole economy … jobs requiring more education usually pay higher wages.
