BIOGRAPHY  Born In: Auckland, New Zealand, 1966  He lived in Auckland up until he was 11 years old, where he moved to Papua New Guinea  He prefers the New Zealand education system because of it’s emphasis on creativity. - “I think there’s an openness in New Zealand and a freedom, in the way I grew up anyway, that encouraged the openness of imagination.”  He started his career in an Auckland computer animation company. “The Mouse That Roared”

BIOGRAPHY CONT.  There he studied advertisements and station logos. He did a advertisement for ‘Minties’.  When he went to the U.S.A for a conference, he was hired by a California company ‘Pacific Data Images’.  He got into visual effects and slowly got into Jurassic Park (1993) and Pixar’s Toy Story (1995)  PDI soon joined forces with ‘DreamWorks’ and made “Shrek” (2001) which won the 1 st Academy Award for a feature animation.

PREFERRED STYLE  He doesn’t really have a preferred style but he does work with animation and Special effects a lot in his movies as he grew up doing animation in New Zealand and America.

IMPACT OF THEIR FILM WORK ON NZ SOCIETY  He didn’t have much of an impact on New Zealand society due to his movies being big overseas.  The movies such as; The Chronicles of Narnia were filmed in NZ.
