Teaching procedures Step 1 Warming up At the end of last period, students were asked to bring some sports things they have to the class. So, at the beginning of this period, ask students to show the things they have brought. This will help them learns words about sports. T: Nice to see you again, boys and girls. I asked you to bring your sports things to the class. Now take them out please. T: Do you like to sing a song? Let’s sing a song together. After singing the song, ask the students some questions: What’s the weather like today? It’s sunny today. Do you like to play sports today? First let’s learn some sports things.

Teaching procedures Step 2 Learn the new words and drills 1. The teacher is holding a basketball, showing a picture of a basketball, and asking the students: What’s this in English? Do you have a basketball?... At the same time asks students to point to the pictures or the real objects and says: “ basketball, basketball, I have a basketball…. The teacher goes to a student who is holding a basketball and asks him: “Excuse me, A, do you have a basketball?” “Yes, I do.” “Does she have a basketball?” “Yes, she does.” Using the same way, study the new words: basketball, volleyball, soccer ball, ping-pong ball, tennis, and so on. Study the new drills: Do you have…? Yes, I do. / No, I don’t. Does he / she have…? Yes, he / she does. / No, he / she doesn’t. Show all the new words and phrases on the screen. Ask students to read them three times and try to remember them.

Teaching procedures Step 3 Vocabulary study (1a, 1b : p25 ) In this step, students will do some activities to learn the words about sports. T: Just now, we have learned some words about sports. Now, let’s do some activities about them. Look at activity 1a, match the words with the things in the picture. I think that’s just a piece of cake for you. Please finish it in one minute. 1 minute later. T: OK, let’s speak out the answers together. Which is tennis racket? Check the answers. Then play the tape and let students do activity 1b and read 1b together. Step 4 Do fast conversation Show the picture of 2c of p26 to students, talk about the picture: “What can you see in the picture?” “I can see a desk, a chair…. ” Look at the things in the picture. Ask your partner if he or she has these things, using these drills: Do you have a …? Yes, I do. / No, I don’t. You must ask and answer as much as possible in 30 seconds.

Show some pictures which have been hidden to students, let them guess “What’s this in English?”, using these ways, we can review the sports things we have learned today and study many more drills: Do you have…? Yes, I do. / No, I don’t. Do they have …? Yes, they do. / No, they don’t. Does he / she have…? Yes, he / she does. / No, he / she doesn’t. 2. Read the dialogues together. Step 6 Pairwork In this step, students learn to talk about ownership by using the structure: Do you / they have…? Does he / she have…? First, let the students read the sample together. Then they practice making conversations following the sample. Finally, they ask each other if she or he has the things in the picture.

Teaching procedures Step 7 Listen and write (2a, 2b: p 26 ) 1. Talk about the pictures: what can you see? Who are they? What are they talking? 2. Ask students to listen to four conversations and number the pictures (1-4 ). 3. Listen again. Match the people with the balls. 4. Check the answers. Step 8 Exercises Ask the students to do the written exercises to review the important target language. Step 9 Presentation Show the students pictures to learn the drills: Let’s play … That sounds good.

Teaching procedures Step10 Practise Show the pictures about different balls on the screen, have the class work in pairs, such as: A: Let’s play … B: I don’t have a … A: Well, let’s play … B: That sounds good.
