ENERGY The stuff that makes things go.. What is Energy? - Energy = The ability to do work or cause a change in motion. -Measured in Joules (J) & calories.
Unit 2 Lesson 2 Kinetic and Potential Energy
Mechanical Energy. Earlier, it was said that work is done upon an object whenever a force acts upon it to cause it to be displaced. Work involves a force.
Energy: Solar Energy, Heat Energy, Gravitational Energy, Kinetic Energy, and Chemical Energy. Solar Energy is radiant energy that comes from the sun. Heat.

Energy Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. Potential pnergy is stored energy.
Look at the pictures below, how do they relate to energy?
Energy: Machines, Motion and Light Energy exists in many different states. Energy can be transformed from one state to another in order to power machines.

Mechanical energy can be either kinetic energy (energy of motion) or potential energy (stored energy of position). Objects have mechanical energy if they are in motion and/or if they are at some position relative to a zero potential energy position (for example, a brick held at a vertical position above the ground or zero height position).
