Lesson 1 – Behold Your King
Presentation transcript:

Mark 11:1-11 Jesus’ Triumphal Entry

Vs 2 "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here.”

Vs 3 'The Lord has need of it‘ - His Poverty: A borrowed donkey. A borrowed boat. A borrowed upper room in Jerusalem. A borrowed tomb. ‘...immediately he will send it back here.’

- His Omniscience - His Authority Jesus’ commandment is His enablement.

Other things that were used to accomplish God’s purposes: - A staff - A sling - A jawbone of a donkey - A house - A boat - A boy’s lunch - A jar of ointment

Vs 4 “And they... found a colt tied...” Is there a “colt” in your life that God wants to use? - A spiritual gift. - A talent. - A possession. - A time commitment.

What did Jesus communicate when He rode into Jerusalem? 1) He fulfilled a Messianic prophecy in Zechariah 9:9. “Behold, your King is coming to you, gentle, and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt...” 2) He openly declared Himself to be Israel’s King and Messiah. (Daniel 9:26) 3) He challenged the religious leaders. Luke 19:39,40

Luke 19:41-44: “And when He approached, He saw the city and wept over it...,...you did not recognize the time of your visitation." Luke 19:41-44: “And when He approached, He saw the city and wept over it...,...you did not recognize the time of your visitation."

Vs 9..."Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Soon a crowd would be shouting “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”.

What about the Romans who watched this procession?

Vs 11 “And He entered Jerusalem and came into the temple...” Malachi 3:1 “...And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple...

Some Lessons: - Christ’s “Triumphal Entry” signaled both deliverance and doom. - How should we respond when God asks us to do something we may not understand? We need to remember: We need to remember: - His omniscience. - His authority. - His commandment is His enablement.
