FARHAANA BEATO

SENIOR PROJECT I GWDB 333 TROY BENNETT MARCH 25, 2015

Facade is a web community that give the special effects makeup community the opportunity to interact. Users can give/get product recommendations, share makeup looks, & even test out looks with an interactive generator. This site is not only for those who are makeup savvy but also those who need a place to gain inspiration for Halloween or conventions. While on the site, users have to option to browse through galleries, create a look using an avatar, & get product recommendations based on the tools/colors they used. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

There is currently not many opportunities for those interested in makeup to communicate and exchange ideas. With Facade, makeup artist & enthusiasts have a place to show off their skills, get inspiration, & simply be creative together. Often times artists are unable to find a tangible & consistent place to come together on the Internet. There are inspiration sites such as Pinterest but nothing specifically geared toward special effects makeup. There are shows such as Face Off where people can tune in to appreciate intricate creations but nothing that translates into a tangible source. There are few places where users can get recommendations and see tutorials all in one place. OPPORTUNITY/PROBLEM

Because there is currently no online community for special effects artists, that makes this project unprecedented. Facade will provide a community of users. Those users will have the option to browse through categorized galleries with photos submitted by other users. Users will also have the option to create a makeup look using a digital avatar to make their ideas come to life. These makeup looks will then determine what products or tools an artist will need to accomplish. Finally the user has the option to view any video tutorials related to the look they have created. The site will have photos & products sorted into several categories such as SFX, Halloween, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Beauty, and more. PROPOSED SOLUTION

Alexis is a Chicago native who has a major passion for face & body painting. She started face painting herself in high school to relieve the stresses of bullying from her peers. Now she is an award winning body painter and aesthetician. She regularly does new makeup looks and is always in need of more ideas. TARGET AUDIENCE Alexis Fleming

Corey is an amateur cosplayer who enjoys conventions and dressing up for Halloween. He finds the world of special effects makeup fascinating and wants to learn how to execute it better. Halloween is his favorite time of the year because he gets to play dress up with his children. Corey hopes for a community for people to share ideas and learn tutorials. TARGET AUDIENCE Corey Dunn

Jewel is a student studying abroad in Daegu Korea. She loves seeing the street art and extreme makeup trends in Daegu. Although she doesn’t do makeup for a living herself, she loves experiencing the creativity she sees in Korea and the States alike. TARGET AUDIENCE Jewel Richardson

Discovering the target market for Facade was accomplished mainly through an online questionnaire and individual interviews. Here is where the resulting data was able to determine the target audience, important website features, and consumer needs. The results determined a need for tutorials and possibly a forum where users can discuss their opinions and recommendations. MARKET TESTING
