More information St Petersburg is the northernmost( 最北 ) city in the world and the biggest sea port in Russia. It is the eighth tourism city in the world. It is made up of 42 islands, which are connected with (连接 ) over 300 bridges. So it is known as “the Northern Venice”. It was once named Leningrad (列宁格勒) in 1924.It was returned to its first name in 1991.
