“I’m calling on our nation’s governors and state education chiefs to develop standards and assessments that don’t simply measure whether students can fill in a bubble on a test, but whether they possess 21st century skills like problem-solving and critical thinking and entrepreneurship and creativity.” President Barack Obama “Using the ‘Four Cs’ to engage students is imperative. As educators prepare students for this new global society, teaching the core content subjects— math, social studies, the arts—must be enhanced by incorporating critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. We need new tools to support classroom teachers and education support professionals in their profession, even as they implement new strategies in their classrooms.” John C. Stocks, Executive Director of the National Education Association The Gap we are addressing is global America - Preparing 21st Century Students for a Global Society

Lisbon Council Policy Brief, EU 2020: Why Skills are Key for Europe’s Future? What Are the Skills Europe Will Need? The question still arises: if we are to invest more in skills, what are the skills we need? Are we equipping students with the knowledge they will need tomorrow? The most important skill would seem to be the ability to formulate complex solutions to new and unforeseen problems and the capacity to learn new and different skills throughout a lifetime.’ Paul Hofheinz, President and Founder of Lisbon Council The problem we are addressing is global Europe - Preparing 21st Century Students for a Global Society The EU funds have been relocated and refocused from Infrastructural and Cultural projects in 2007 – 2013 grant to Educational, Innovations, SME, Youth Unemployment, Startups, Entrepreneurial in 2014 – PAY ATTENTION

The educational Gaps everywhere Europe – Entrepreneurial skills, No practical trainings The EU Commission’s survey on entrepreneurial mindsets: The EU Commission has incorporated the promotion of entrepreneurship into its 2020 strategy, which recognizes entrepreneurship and self-employment as one of the key enablers of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. Self-employment is a less popular option versus 2009, with a clear majority now favoring work as an employee. Why not an entrepreneur? Reasons shown (no capital, current climate not good, not enough skills, no business idea, risk of failure, 52% - other reasons not stated) clearly indicates not sufficient social skills and attitudes Euro barometer 2012, Entrepreneurship in the EU and beyond PAY ATTENTION

The University education is the next investment balloon. Peter Thiel have decided to grant USD to each of the very top 20 students at the very top 20 Universities in the USA each year, encouraging them to start own business under condition to drop out the University. He bet that in few years they all be more successful, wealthier and happier than those who stay and acquired high-caliber education because he believes that the real life is the best teacher. Peter Thiel’s bet challenged the world Traditional education vs Real Life experience Peter Thiel self-made billionaire When the Thiel Fellowship began in 2010, founder Peter Thiel caused a stir for his denunciation of the traditional educational system. “So many students are not getting the jobs they need to repay their debts, are moving back in with their parents, and the contract both signed up for is being revealed as false.” Peter Thiel.
