How’s It Going???

Fieldwork/Data Collection – should be complete/near completion Thesis Format – you should have applied Data Analysis Writing Academic Papers Conference Attendance – Present a more prestigious international conferences and enhance your network. Possible submission / Job market preparation TA Work Year 3

Submission pending Writing up and submission: – Your focus should be on ensuring the completion of a high quality thesis in the remaining time available to you. – Ideally you should aim to submit no later than the Spring Post - PhD – Employment – Academia? Private Sector? – Networking, publications.

Divisional Events – Divisions held welcome events on Monday, there was a lunch before this meeting. There will be other opportunities to welcome new students and network. Expectations form, Plan for progression, submission and the future? – Important to establish your working relationship and to discuss the expectations around your continuing needs with your supervisor(s). – You should have a clear agreement for the submission of work and the feedback on drafts. ESPECIALLY in submission pending.

Research Support/Training FoH Researcher Development – herdevelopment/ herdevelopment/ – NARTI – The Faculty offers courses relating Academic Writing, Thesis Submission, Vivas, Future Employment etc.

Review and Monitoring Engagement and Attendance – Supervisors are expected to meet students frequently – normally fortnightly but at least monthly. It is a requirement for the supervisor to complete the eProg Engagement and Attendance form each month. Special Permissions Applications for Extensions and Interruption from students can only be considered if they have mitigating circumstances and must be supported by their supervisors. You need to provide a detailed statement explaining the circumstances, provide any documentary evidence and confirm your current and predicted progress [work plan]. All applicants may be required to meet with the PGR Director or Divisional Coordinators to discuss the application prior to the PGR Director approving/rejecting or referring the application.
