DEFINITIONS School Day –Midnight to 30 minutes after the official end of the traditional, instructional school day Does not apply to items sold after the “school day,” weekends, or off- campus events School Campus –All areas of the school property accessible to students during the school day 7 CFR Part Interim Final Rule

QUESTIONS TO ASK... What is the current local policy on food sales? What is currently being sold through CTE programs during the school day? How are foods and beverages sold being obtained and documented? What technical assistance do we need? What alternative non-food fundraisers would help us meet our program goals? Does a CTE exempted fundraiser need to be submitted?

UTAH CTE EXEMPTED FUNDRAISERS Food and beverages sold to students that do not meet the nutrition standards and Smart Snack in School requirements CTE –Submit an CTE Exemption Fundraiser application to USOE Child Nutrition Programs 4-6 weeks prior to the fundraiser –Approval/Denial letter Submit product information by defined due date to CNP –Product brand, name, portion size, ingredient list, nutrient label –Product Calculator
RECORDKEEPING & REVIEW Paperwork will be requested during Administrative Review of the National School Lunch Programs –Commendations, technical assistance, and corrective action will be determined Documentation –Maintain nutrition facts and ingredient labels and/or product specifications for foods and beverages sold to students during the defined school day –Maintain Product Calculator report –Recipes –Maintain approved CTE exemption form/letter
