Serving Servers must serve diagonal into the proper service box server

Serving Serves are performed overhand. Professional tennis players can serve up to 150 MPH. Andy Roddick is one of best servers in history: Fundamentals of an overhand serve: Oc Oc

Serving When a serve does not land in the proper service box, it is called a FAULT. The first fault does NOT count as a point for the other team. All players get two chances to get in a good serve. If the serve hits the net but lands in the proper area, it is called a LET. A let does not count as a point or a fault. It is a redo. A serve that counts as a point is called an ACE.

Scoring Love = zero The first point in tennis is called 15. The second point is called 30. The third point is called 40. The next and final point is called GAMEPOINT.

Scoring When the score is tied it is called DEUCE. The team that scores after deuce, has ADVANTAGE. You must win by two points so the player with advantage must score another point to win.

The Court --The Singles side lineThe Doubles - Side line The court for a doubles match (2v2) is bigger than a court for singles (1v1).

Rules The ball is not allowed to bounce twice on your side. The ball must leave your racket and travel to the other side of the court– You don’t get to pass it to your partner and have them hit it over. The ball must be played if it hits the net and goes over (as long as it wasn’t on the serve). If the ball lands on the side line it is IN.
