EUFORIA FP7-INFRASTRUCTURES , Grant Summary Architecture: several issues 1st issue: Portal Integrate Kepler and all the ITM applications in Migrating Desktop  Migrating Desktop is running on the user’s desktop => Kepler and the others are running on the user infrastructure => must be launched as a batch on the gateway  Non java applications (Matlab, IDL, …) must be launched through VNC (performance??)  MD could run interactive jobs (2 ssh channels) but not available for the Kepler part running on the “gateway”  => loose the benefits from MD If not used, a web portal must be developed Actions: Must be investigated more deeply (1 month) Distribute the “ITM Web portal requirements” document

EUFORIA FP7-INFRASTRUCTURES , Grant Summary Architecture: several issues 2nd issue: Data communication  Access to external data from the codes running on the GRID/HPC  ITM data server: consistent plasma + fusion device state (stored in the gateway memory during the simulation)  Investigate biomedical + EuroVO_AIDA project + …  Could use fast FTP as a backup 3rd issue: Jobs launching:  Interactive jobs: jobs are running for a long duration  loop on many time steps: communication with Kepler at each time step  only the batch mode is available => simulations will be less efficient Actions:  Less urgent but must be investigated as early as possible
