Goal 1. – Data Dashboard DART – AKA “Data Dashboard” ▫Adopted the Ed-Fi Solution ▫Utilizes Nebraska data to address Nebraska’s…  Individual student needs  measure student progress, and  refine action plans throughout the school year ▫Optional tool for district use

What is a Dashboard? Rooted in the concepts of business intelligence (BI) For our purposes, we introduce the concept of education intelligence (EI) ▫Transform data into knowledge to promote informed educational decision-making ▫4 Steps of the EI Cycle:  Accurate Answers  Valuable Insights  On-time Information  Actionable Conclusions

Unlocking Data Silos Issues/ChallengesProposed Solutions Multiple data stores/data warehouses for different purposes Systems of record span multiple proprietary systems No standard way to access data across systems Inconsistencies and latencies in data across systems Silos prevent application interoperability Provide a more robust end-to- end data infrastructure based upon the Ed-Fi standard Unify data from multiple systems of record into a single operational data store Support BI and analysis through a robust data warehouse Provide open standard (Ed-Fi) API for applications

Project Plan Use the Ed-Fi data standard to automatically pull and integrate data from state and district systems Customize the dashboards to reflect Nebraska priorities, policies, assessments, and processes Prove the dashboards and implementation process in a set of pilots Pilot with Select Districts Develop ETL/ Interfaces Customize Dashboards Customize Wireframes Ongoing Project Management Stakeholder Engagements Analyze Data Sources Unify Data Requirements Scope & Project Plan

Goal 2. Data Cadre Collaborative model between NDE, ESUCC, and local ESUs Data Cadre development group composed of ▫Eight professional developers from ESUs ▫Five NDE Representatives Centered around the use of data for continuous school improvement Focus on the analysis of data to inform professional development, instructional practices, evaluation processes and school improvement Data Literacies

Goal 3. Research & Evaluation Develop plan for collaboration with Nebraska stakeholders to answer questions of substantive interest to the education community ▫Implement collaboration plan Disseminate findings from original research and evaluation projects conducted by NDE Methodological research aimed at quantifying and enhancing data quality ▫Continuous quality improvement process

Goal 4. Sustainability Develop data governance plan Data dictionary aligned with Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) ▫Metadata structures Interstate locator: ▫eScholar module to find students who moved out of state ▫Partners include: Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota?
