Health and Safety

Working with computers  When you are at a computer for a long period of time you will need to move around/away from the computer every 20 mins so you don’t strain your eyes for being at the computer for a few hours at one time.  Make sure you don’t make you legs go numb, if you do you might fall over when you stand up from sitting down for a long time.

Risk Assessment  Risk assessments are good because then if they are any risk with the computer, then you know not to use it before you have fixed the problem.  Make sure non of your equipment is hanging over the side of the table you are working on or if you do it might catch someone when they work past you.

Checklist for workstations  Its always good to have a checklist for all the workstations so you know what is on that desk at the start and at the end of the day.  If there wasn’t any checklists then what will you know what to use for that machine or if your repairing something.

The Keyboard  When you are using a keyboard you need it to be at the right length away from your arms so you don’t strain them.  If you have it to close or to far away from you, you will hurt your arms trying to reach it all the time.

Work Chair  When you are sitting in a chair for a few hours in one go, you will get cramp in your legs and your back will hurt and it will effect you later on in life if you don’t sit right properly.  You need to make sure you have a chair the supports you for what you need it to do.
