Современный взгляд на дайковые рои. В недавние годы произошла революция в изучении и понимании дайковых роёв. Аэромагнитные карты показывают наличие роёв, отличающихся крупными масштабами, но простой геометрии (линейных или расходящихся веером).Они обычно могут быть датированы с точностью лучше +/-5 млн. лет используя U-Pb метод по минералам бадделеит и циркон и в некоторых случаях с помощью Ar-Ar метода. Датирование указывает, что многие рои внедрились за короткий промежуток времени, <10 млн лет. Палеомагнитные исследования точно датированных даек хорошо обоснованные ТКДП и палеоконтинентальные реконструкции.
