THINKING AND ACTING TO PREVENT VIOLENCE AGGRESSORS, VICTIMS AND BYSTANDERS AVB AGGRESSORS, VICTIMS AND BYSTANDERS AVB

CONFLICT IS..... ?

DIFFERENT KINDS OF CONFLICTS CAN BE Arguing with parents BEING HARASSED BEING MISUNDERSTOOD FIGHTING SPREADING RUMORS YELLING AT OTHERS BEING TROUBLED OVER SOMETHING GETTING PICKED ON WHAT ARE SOME OTHERS?

PEOPLE HANDLE CONFLICT IN DIFFERENT WAYS imgres

POSITIVE WAYS ARE: STAYING CALM SPORTS SOME ACTIVITY THINKING BEFORE ACTING AGREE TO DISAGREE

NEGATIVE WAYS ARE FIGHTING AVOIDING PRETENDING NOTHING IS BOTHERING THEM WAR CRIMES BAD FEELING SUCH AS STRESS, ANGER, FEAR, and SADNESS

Look at the following pictures. What do you think might be happening?

AGGRESSOR: ONE THAT ACTS IN A HOSTILE MANNER (BULLY) *PROVOKES OTHERS *STARTS FIGHTS (PHYSICALLY OR VERBALLY)

VICTIM: ONE THAT THE AGGRESSION IS AIMED AT A TARGET CAN BE PHYSICAL OR VERBALLY ATTACKED.

BYSTANDER: ONE THAT IS NEARBY DURING A CONFLICT, PLAYS A PIVOTAL ROLE IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION A BYSTANDER CAN CAUSE A CONFLICT TO  ESCALATE or  DE-ESCALATE

Who is the Victim? Who is the bystander? Who is the aggressor? CAN YOU TELL?

Let’s look at the pictures again! Now can you explain using the words we just learned what might be going on?

We experience and express conflicts in many different ways. Everyone has conflicts; people are not good or bad because they experience them. Conflict is a normal part of life. The important issue is how we handle conflict. If we resolve our conflicts by fighting, then conflict becomes something negative. If we handle it is a positive way, then conflict can help us learn more about ourselves and others.
