MARKETING YOU Marketing Locally Marketing on the Internet

Building Your Local Network  Developing a network without the Internet  Associations  Clubs  Church  Chamber of Commerce  Schools  Workforce (unemployment office)  Volunteer  Morning Coffee Shop

Market To Everyone You Know  Friends  Family  Friends of Friends  Past employers  Be prepared to sell yourself to everyone…. MLM Marketing

Local Associations  Industry Associations- (even if not in your Industry) Most have fees, but also have openings and contact lists for all members.  Local Sport Associations- Most people involved with both kids and adult sporting associations are connected people.  Local Government Boards- (Economic Development, Board of Education, etc.) Get involved run for office (Membership Directory)

Local Clubs  Social Clubs  Civil Groups  Country Clubs  American Legion/VFW  Elks Club  YMCA  Any Local Clubs-Organizations

Church  Get involved in committees etc.  Look over bulletins weekly (most list business advertisements for companies that members own or manage)

Chamber Of Commerce  Know all companies in the area. (make sure to visit all surrounding chambers as well)  Have a member directory.  Know all companies moving to the area or companies that will be expanding.  Set appointments with the Director of Commerce and Economic Development person. Ask where and who they can connect you with.

Schools  If you have Children get involved with school activities.  Your Alumni- Contact the career development office at your university as well as company groups (  Visit the Advancement Office, they will know everyone that is making the big $$ that has the power to hire.  Many schools have internal network meetings or websites.

Workforce Development  Have listings of jobs and relationships with local companies.  Even if you are currently employed you can still look at what is going on.  Many offer government programs for expanding your education.  Local office links to all offices in the state enabling you to broaden your search. search

Volunteer  Volunteer for everything possible  Good for the community, Good to make contacts, good for your resume  Every organization we have mentioned will take volunteers.  American Red Cross, Rotary club, etc.

Coffee Shop  Meeting place for business owners.  Mostly found in smaller communities.  Donut Shops, Coffee Shops  Power Lunches (where do the hiring authorities go to lunch? Show up and make conversation)

Contact List  Telephone Calls  Keep in contact & follow up.

Final Thought  Meet people & network every where you go.  Always have a Resume handy.  Suggestion: Make business cards with your name, address, and phone number. No company name or title. (If possible list some skills.)  On-line resume with link and QR Codes

Marketing You On The Internet  Post your Resume on the net  Search for Jobs on the WWW  Networking  Resume distribution  Research Tools  In % of all companies used Social Network for Recruiting

Post the Resume  Industry Sites ( Google Search)  Always fill out everything  Update or change every week  Create your own site
