LexisNexis Confidential Introduction We continue to improve the LexisNexis online services to provide a high quality research experience for you. In July 2006 we will be introducing new and enhanced features to LexisNexis NZ. They have been developed to increase ease of use, provide additional flexibility to meet different search preferences, and accelerate working with your legal research results. In this brief introduction we preview a selection of the changes to be implemented in the July upgrade. In the weeks leading to the upgrade we will continue to provide you with further information to help make using LexisNexis NZ easier

Page 4 The Source Directory There are several ways to access the LexisNexis Source Directory from the home page Using the Source Directory tab Clicking on Find More Sources Clicking on More Sources in the Quick Sources area

Page 5 Changes to Source Directory The Source Directory now has added flexibility with the addition of several features to make finding multiple sources easy CURRENT

Page 6 New Source Directory Features NEW Quick Find a Source CHANGE "Combined sources" tray removed from right hand side of screen. NEW Two sub tabs in the Source Directory NEW Two filters available By Country (for subscribers of international content) and Content Type Example: When you select Browse Sources then choose by Area of Law Sources can be filtered by Country and Content Type Select the Area of Law by checking the box UPGRADE Click on the folder or name to browse the sources in that area of law Content Type and Area of Law radio buttons

Page 7 New Source Directory Features Once an area of law is selected there is additional filtering available Example: Having selected Administrative Law, you can now add another filter to narrow the results or check the box/es next to the source/s to create a collection of sources to search across Name your selection * Customisable feature available with non-IP fixed access Click OK - Continue Select Source/s by checking the box Click View to review selected sources

Page 8 New Source Directory Features Example: By selecting Browse Sources by Content Type Sources can be filtered by Country and Subjects Quick find Content Type and Area of Law radio buttons Filter by Country and Subjects

Page 10 New Source Directory Features Advanced search functionality available for searching for sources by Keyword NEW Find by Keyword CURRENT UPGRADE NEW Use either Boolean searching or exact phrase NEW Additional filters make finding a source easier Example: Easy to locate a source when the exact title of the publication is not known

Page 11 Additional Document Delivery Options Additional features to increase options of how search results are delivered Currently PDF format is only available for ‘print copy’ versions of publications such as cases and bulletins. In this next upgrade you will also be able to PDF or download documents to a PDF in the same way as you do with Microsoft ® Word.* NEW PDF format available for either or downloading functions NEW the addition of the Arial font for , printing or downloading functions * This will not produce a ‘print copy’ version of the document

LexisNexis Confidential Questions Have the System Requirements Changed? No. The upgraded LexisNexis NZ does not require any increase in hardware or system specifications. Will My Password Change? No. Your password(s) for using LexisNexis NZ will remain unchanged. Will the Web Address (URL) Change? No. You will still access LexisNexis NZ at: Who do I contact for any assistance I need with the upgrade? Our Helpline is available to assist with any questions. Will you be sending more information? Yes we will be. We will be providing you with details of the changes, additional screen shots and access to online tutorials so you can start using the new features straight away.
