E.O Planning for Federal Sustainability in the Next Decade

Sustainability Strategy Clean Energy Energy Efficiency Water Efficiency Cleaner Fleet 40% Federal GHG Reduction

Federal GHG Target Will create up to $18B in cumulative ( ) avoided energy costs Source: U.S. Digital Services

Energy Efficiency Target 2.5% annual BTU/GSF reduction through 2025 from 2015 baseline Source: CEQ Projections Based on DOE Federal Energy Management Program Data

Clean Energy Targets 25% of total energy (electric and thermal) will come from clean sources by 2025 At least 30% of the electricity portion of total energy will be obtained by renewable electricity Source: White House Photo Office

Water and Fleet Targets Water Target 2% per year reduction in potable water use through 2025 from 2007 baseline 2% per year reduction in ILA water use through 2025 from 2010 baseline – Extension of previous 2020 water targets Fleet Target Reduce per mile GHG emissions 30% from a 2014 baseline by 2025, and incorporate zero emission and plug-in hybrid vehicles into fleet purchases, 50% by 2025 – GHG Targets = impact of CAFE standards + ZEV targets

Federal Supplier Roundtable On March 19 th major suppliers came to the table with GHG emission reduction targets or with first-ever corporate commitments to disclose emissions and set new reduction goals The companies that attended each do more than $1 billion a year in business with the U.S. Government and together account for roughly $45 billion in Federal contract spending
