The aim of this programme is to develop a skilled technician for the agri machinery industry 3. Technician will have the potential to progress to Master Technician 4. Attractive to students who are interested in agri machinery but would not consider doing an apprenticship 2

Three year duration – 6 semesters of study Qualification leads to BSc Level 7 (Ordinary degree) Semesters 1,3,5 – full time study at IT, Tralee Student will take one online module in Year 3 Semesters 2,4,6, - work placement at host organisation Students would normally work at host organisation during holiday periods. 3

Direct Entry to IT, Tralee Not advertised on CAO – not specifically points based As a rule of thumb, candidates should have circa 300 points Employers can impose additional conditions if they wish Applicant must have secured placement before acceptance Payment a matter between student and employer Responsibility of applicant to maintain placement throughout the 3 years Application process closes on July 1 st (same date as CAO ‘change of mind’ date) 4

Duration of academic placement is 12 weeks Intern would normally remain with sponsor throughout Summer period During academic placement, intern will have an IT, Tralee tutor and a work based supervisor Student will have to perform and report on a number of scheduled tasks during 12 weeks 5

Reports will be submitted to IT, Tralee tutor for grading Student will have to attend IT, Tralee to make presentation on placement Student will also be subject to an oral examination on the prescribed tasks for the particular placement. 6
