What is the CELDT and Why is it Important? Horace Mann Middle School

Learning Objectives Students will know why they are taking the CELDT Test. Students will know the different parts and kinds of questions that the CELDT asks. Student will know what have been their CELDT results in past years.

Who is an English learner? An English learner is a student:  with a home language other than English, given a home language survey and an assessment.

Intermediate Advanced Beginner

English Learner Levels 1. Beginning: Typically do not understand and cannot communicate in English 2. Early Intermediate: English limited to phrases or questions; frequent errors. 3. Intermediate: Oral and written communication expanded to sentences and paragraphs. 4. Early Advanced: Able to use English in complex situations and communicate in fully developed paragraphs 5. Advanced: Use extended academic vocabulary and can apply knowledge in all subject areas

What Level are You 1 or 2 is to designate beginners. Unfortunately, some of our students have been in schools since kindergarten and still are 1 or 2. You need to be careful; there are not many questions. Listen carefully. Is missing only one on a test good?
