 No travel – meet face to face and ask questions.  Let colleges know you are seriously interested.  Make contact with a person who may be evaluating your application.  Assess your fit – figure out how you can improve your chances of admission.

From the student’s home page, click on the Colleges tab. Naviance -

Select View all upcoming college visits Click on sign up

 Visit the colleges website.  Look at the requirements for admission.  Think of some questions to ask.

 Introduce yourself and shake hands.  Watch your body language – slouching shows disinterest and lack of respect.  Feel free to eat your lunch but please use good manners.  Show interest.

 Plan now when to visit.  Times not to Visit –  Thanksgiving week,  Christmas break,  Martin Luther King Holiday,  College Winter  College Spring Break (see college website for specific dates)..

 Plan to complete all testing junior year.  Take ACT and SAT and then commit to best test.  Reserve time to take 2 SATs & 1 ACT or 2 ACTs & 1 SAT junior year.  AP testing takes place during the first 2 weeks of May, so plan carefully.  Prepare for SAT and ACT by taking timed practice tests. Carefully analyze practice test results and make adjustments.

 One hour, multiple choice test on one of 20 different subjects.  Required by some selective colleges for admission. Note – most students do not need SAT Subject Tests.  Required by some colleges for course placement.  Offers you an additional opportunity to show colleges what you know. SAT Subject Test

 Score Choice  Wait to send scores until applying senior year.  Report best scores from either SAT or ACT or use both.
