CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou Graphic Standards What and Why?  Graphic Standards are guidelines followed when making: Flyers, newsletters, and training material (like this slideshow)  They give a sense of unity and professionalism to our work.  And allow work to be easily identified as part of Key Club. Examples of Key Club Graphic Standards are:

CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou Logos Graphic Standards  Rules for use: Must be placed on a neutral background color. Should never be distorted. 0.5 inch isolation all around. On anything smaller than a banner, do not exceed 1.5in and 5in respectively. Max size: 1.5” Max size: 5.0”

CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou CNH and The Pencil Graphic Standards  Other items to add to publications:  The pencil should be used on the front of all Key Club publications and on a regular 8.5”x11” paper should be no larger than 0.5” in height.  The CNH logo follows the same rules as the Key Club Logo with a maximum of 1.5” size and 0.5” isolation.

CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou Official Key Club fonts! Graphic Standards Use Arial Font for Websites  There are two main fonts Century Gothic : Headings – 44pt, and subheadings 14pt Goudy Old Style: Main Text – 9.5pt, with 13pt leading  Accent Fonts Personalize your publication Ex. Goudy Stout, Juice, Tempus Sans, & Viner Hand Feel free to download fonts for accents!

CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou Graphic Standards Key Club Colors These can be used for all Key Club materials, the color codes are provided.

CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou Graphic Standards Logo Colors The Key Club International logo is to be used in these colors as shown to the side.

CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou What are Newsletters? Newsletters  There are three types of Newsletters: Divisional, Regional, and District.  They are used to promote upcoming events, service projects, and other useful information. As the name implies, they are letters that deliver news!  Each type should cover only the news regarding the that level of Key Club in order to avoid unnecessary repetition.

CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou What do they look like? Newsletters  Newsletters are official Key Club documents and should be made following the Graphic Standards mentioned earlier.  Sometimes you can personalize and stray from the standards, but you should try to keep it simple.  They can be made in Microsoft Word or Publisher, but should always be saved as a PDF file.  Feel free to include pictures and make it interesting instead of blocks of text.

CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou How long are they? Newsletters  The newsletter should be long enough to cover the important information, but short enough to keep the reader’s attention. Divisional Newsletters are usually a page or two. Regional Newsletters vary based on how many divisions are in your region.  Avoid putting unnecessary information.

CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou Newsletters What pictures can I add?  Pictures in the newsletters should be of Key Clubbers in action at a Key Club event. (The exception being self-portraits.)  They should be of energetic, happy, and diverse Key Clubbers.  If possible, they should exemplify Key Club’s four core values (leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness).  And Clip Art is useful!

CALI-NEV-HA K E Y C L U B Candidate Training Conference 2010 “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain.” -Maya Angelou Go For It! Questions? Comments? Concerns? Christina Tran, Division 2 Nivi Balu, Division 44 North Polly Huang, Division 4 East Cheyenne Nation, Division 13 South James Cabreros, Division 24/29
