Title: (2.12) Mass of Mixed Solutions

Purpose: To determine if mass change when tow solutions are mixed. Hypothesis: If…then…, because… Materials: (2) Vials Solution A Solution B (2) Pipettes

Procedure: 1. With a pipette fill vial A with solution A DONE! 2. With a pipette fill vial B with solution B DONE! 3. Make and record THREE observations of solutions A and B 4. Place both vials containing solution A and B on the balance. 5. Record the mass. 6. Pour solution A into Solution B 7. Make and record the observations of Solution A + Solution B 8. Place vial B with the solution and empty vial A on the balance. DO NOT SPILL ANYTHING!!! 9. Record the mass. 10. Clean up.

Data Table Mass of system before mixing_____g Mass of system after mixing_____g Change in Mass_____g Qualitative Data/Observations

A Hour Data # Delta mass(g)

B Hour Data # Delta mass(g)

Research Question Did the mass change as a result of mixing? Why do you think this is the case? Conclusion
