Hudson Plains

The Hudson Plains run from Manitoba to Quebec along the southern edge of Hudson Bay. Location

Climate Hudson’s Bay poor drainage has resulted in the largest continuous wetlands in the world. The average summer temperatures are 11 C The average winter temperatures are -18 C Precipitation ranges from 400mm to 800mm

Geology and Geography The land here is flat, and the poor drainage is the main result of wetlands and bogs.

Plants The drainage here is poor, so trees are only found at the drier high altitudes, while the lower altitudes lack trees. CloudberryPurple SaxifrageDwarf Birch

Animals The diversity is higher in the summer The region is better known for its high population in biting insect population A single hectare is estimated to be able to produce 10 million black flies, no see-ums and other biting insects Black bear Beluga Whale Canada Goose

Humans The population of the Hudson Plains are around 10,000 because of the lack of timber and materials.
