Types of Care Services Health, Social Care services and early years services can be divided into four separate types: The voluntary, private and informal sectors are collectively known as the independent sector Private Voluntary Informal Statutory

Types of Service Statutory Services Should be available to everyone by law. These are government funded service provisions free at the point of entry. Independent Services Does not have to be provided by law, these are privately owned services and not for profit charities. A voluntary service is provided by people who do not get paid for their services and do not expect payment from the people they help.

What are the benefits of informal provision? for the service user? for their family or others who volunteer to provide the care? for the organisations who would otherwise have to provide statutory care?
