What is a Directory? A directory is like a phonebook It will contain names and phone numbers It is only for Shackelford

The Contest It is put on by PTA Design a front cover Three-five smaller designs for the inside pages Can only use red, white, and blue The winner will receive a free directory and everyone who has artwork in the directory will be on a special awards page

Limited Color Palettes Palette – can be a tool that holds paint OR a choice of colors Artist often use limited palettes to create unity. Jon Burgerman and Shepard Fairey

Jon Burgerman Creates very crazy images Lots of lines, creatures, and action Without limiting his color palette, it would be too confusing

Instructions Fold paper in half (hamburger style) On the front, design the cover On the second inside page, draw your designs – DO NOT DRAW THEM ON THE BACK OF YOUR COVER On the very back, put your heading

Design Try to make it bold and eye-catching (emphasis) Reflect positive, fun things about Shack Can be strictly design based or it can have representational objects incorporated into the cover design

Things to Remember Only use Red, White, and Blue Do not draw anything on the back of the cover In some cases, PTA will need to cut out designs in order to use them Leave a ¼” boarder Have fun and be creative! Must say – Shackelford Directory
