Microscopic World

What do they do? Write the functions of Lenses Coarse & fine focus Mirror Rotating nose piece

How we use microscopes To look at things under a microscope they need to be put on a glass slide. They may need a drop of water on them with a thin coverslip on top to hold them flat.

Care needed! Start with the lowest magnification objective (bottom) lens Put your glass slide on the stage and focus the microscope using the coarse focus knob.

Higher Magnification To get higher magnification, change the objective lens and focus using the fine focus. CAUTION watch from the side to make sure you do not get too close to the slide.

Look at these & draw neat simple diagrams of these! Use sticky tape to put a small piece of colour magazine on a slide Use sticky tape to hold a hair on a slide Use sticky tape to hold a tiny piece of damp tissue on a slide
