Presentation transcript:

www.artsonia.com Artsonia Homepage -Easy place for visitors to search for students by name or school -Stats updated regularly to show overall website activity www.artsonia.com

Artsonia School Gallery -Welcome can be customized by a teacher Gallery organized by projects – great reason to include descriptions when creating exhibit/adding artwork -Slideshow Options School stats/visitors displayed here

School Project Page Projects page -Nice to view many variations of the finished artwork at one time -Project description (again) great to include when publishing artwork -National Arts Standards Showing

Artist Statements Students can give visitors a more in-depth look at the artwork by including a personal artist statement. Statements can be added in classroom mode or teachers can manually add them to the students artwork. Sample of Artist Statements

Student’s Artwork Page -Most recent artwork shows first -Artist Statement posted -Family activities – fundraising, join the fan club, post comments

Student’s Portfolio Page -Fan Club Members -Comments -Awards/Honors -Complete Portfolio of Artwork -Family activities – fundraising, join the fan club, post comments

Artist Guestbook: Friends and Family can leave comments for the artists! Note: Parents must register in their child’s gallery to review/approve comments! Guestbook Page -Any visitor can post a comment for an artist, but parents must first review/approve comments before shown to public -One big reason it’s important to encourage parents to set-up a parent account on Artsonia – to approve comments!

Teacher Registration/Login Quick and easy 2 minute process Teacher should have a separate/unique account for each school he/she teaches (so if at 2 schools, do the registration process twice ). Benefits Guide for Admin Webinars/Training Videos

Teacher Start Page Teacher Start Page Serves as a home base to create and manage the school gallery -Messages/School Statistics/Virtual Awards/Fundraising/Extras -Yellow box provides “action needed” type messages -Additional Activities/Resources listed (Art Room Newsletters, Lesson Planning, etc) -Current contest/exhibition opportunities will always be listed along right side of page when applicable

School Setup - Student Roster Artsonia recommends getting a student roster set-up as the first part of the publishing process. Two options to get roster set-up (shown in more detail on next slide) Option 1)Submit a class list via Excel, including Student First/Last/Grade/Homeroom and Parent email address (optional) and Artsonia will create your entire roster for you, as well as notify parents with a Welcome Message (if you include their email address!) Option 2) Type in all the information yourself Option

Your Student Roster Student Rosters are organized by grade, but students can also be assigned to a group (homeroom/classroom/art club, etc). -Artsonia will automatically upload a roster, if it is provided via a spreadsheet (see import spreadsheet green button above names) -Teachers can also click green ADD STUDENTS button to simply type in student names themselves

Build Roster – Import Spreadsheet Student Rosters are organized by grade, but students can also be assigned to a group (homeroom/classroom/art club, etc). -Artsonia will automatically upload a roster, if it is provided via a spreadsheet (see import spreadsheet blue button above names) -Teachers can also click green ADD STUDENTS button to simply type in student names themselves

School Setup - Permissions Note: If your school uses a media form, this feature is optional Artsonia can help teachers acquire parent permission – completely optional if the school uses a media form which covers publishing artwork.

Parent Permissions Media Release vs Artsonia Helps Obtain/Track Permissions Two options for those who want to seek parent permission via Artsonia tools Teachers can enter email addresses (spreadsheet or manually) which then auto-generates an email to parents, inviting them to visit the site and create a parent account. -Teachers can print customized take-home permission slips, send them home and parents can return/sign or go online to complete the parent account. (See Sample Next Slide)

Permissions Take-Home Slips Sample Take-Home Permission Slip (Similar to the Email that goes out…) Brief Explanation of the Parent Status as it will appear when updates are made – provide definitions

Build Gallery - Art Projects Artsonia recommends setting up exhibits, prior to publishing the artwork.

Create New Art Project Student galleries are organized into projects When creating a project… -Title is Required -Adding a description is a great way for visitors to learn more about the project and process involved. -Including a Media Type helps Artsonia file the project in the right category, so it can easily be found in the online search engines. -Sample Artwork – Teachers can select which piece from the project to show on the school gallery page.

New Art Project – Classroom Mode Classroom Mode allows students to use a tablet or computer to submit artwork and statements to a project. -Access/QR Codes -Pins -Setting classroom mode parameters per project, prompting questions, etc.

Build Gallery – Upload Art There are really 3 ways that artwork can be added to the school gallery. -Artsonia App (teachers login via the app and can instantly photograph/publish artwork via their device). -Classroom Mode (students become the curator, photographing their work and submitting, teacher simply approves and publishes). -Online platform (teachers photograph artwork, save the images and upload them via the online teacher section – up to 1,000 images uploaded at a time).

Submit Art: Classroom Mode Newest, most efficient way to add artwork to the gallery! Students as young as Kindergarten can learn the steps to publishing artwork via an iPad! Teachers have published twice as much artwork than prior year, simply by having students upload the work as soon as they finish. Prompts also invite students to submit their artist’s statement as part of the publishing process – also reviewed by a teacher prior to publishing.

Classroom Mode – Review Entries Classroom Mode – Review Entires All entries waiting submission will show here for an easy quick review all on one page. If all good (add optional feedback) then click GREEN Approve Click on Blue EDIT button to make edits, delete or send back submission. (see next slide)

Classroom Mode – Detailed Review Classroom Mode – Detailed Review of individual student’s entry Edit /Approve/ Delete Artwork, Title, Statement Feedback for Progress Report

Teacher Submits Art: Artsonia App The App has two options – Quick Publish or Batch Mode -Quick publish one by one (as “live” in the classroom, students bring artwork up to desk one by one) -Batch mode allows for many pictures, be sure to take notes of student names as you photograph Camera/Connect to PC also still available – as usual. Works like batch mode in app, making note of artwork/student names as you photograph.

Parent Connect Parents are key to a successful Artsonia program – see the reasons why connecting them is so important! Teachers can also print customized take-home slips (3 per page) which are another way to remind parents to check the gallery, approve comments or invite family/friends to join the fan club.

Progress Reports   What are Progress Reports?  Progress Reports help you assess and record your students' growth throughout the year.  How often can I update the report?  You can update the report anytime throughout the year. There is one section for general comments and also a section to add notes on each individual piece of artwork in a student's portfolio.  Who can read the progress reports I write?  The progress reports are not shown publicly. Parents with online accounts are automatically notified when you make updates to their student's progress report. They must login to read the report. You can also print a report to send home. Parents are key to a successful Artsonia program – see the reasons why connecting them is so important! Great Products. Great Cause. Artsonia’s online giftshop takes the “work” out of fundraising for teachers – no order forms, no distributing products, etc. The gift shop is always open and Artsonia works directly with the customers to make sure they are 100% satisfied with their customized keepsakes. Any artwork published in the gallery (whether years ago or yesterday) can be featured on a keepsake. In addition, family members can upload their own photographs or artwork done at home and the school still earns money from the sale. 20% of each order goes back to the school as explained in the next slide. WOW! Earn 20% of each purchase… ALL YEAR LONG!

Fundraising Details Schools earn 20% of all sales generated in the Artsonia gift shop. All funds or a portion of them can be claimed at any time. Within the teacher section, one can see the to-date funds earned as well as view a contribution report – which helps teachers understand what projects seem to be more popular amongst family purchases, etc. Teachers can request funds to be paid out in full or smaller increments at any time. The funds can be redeemed in the form of a check from Artsonia (made out to teacher/school or PTO for example) or as gift certificates from Artsonia, Blick Art Materials or Amazon.

Teacher Resource: Lesson Plans Thousands of lesson plans are available on Artsonia! -Great to see an entire class of finished projects, not just one “teacher sample” of the work. -Help keep the collection growing…all Artsonia teachers are encouraged to share their Lesson Plans!

Artsonia: Why Participate? Online Digital Portfolios are in High Demand! -Artsonia is the best way to organize digital files of ALL your students’ work in one place! -Quickly access past and current projects to show students, parents and administrators. -Students can include a personal artist statement with each piece of artwork! Submitting Artwork is FAST and EASY! -The FREE Artsonia mobile app lets you take photos, edit and submit artwork in a flash! -Classroom Mode lets students publish their own work, saving teachers even more time! Connecting Parents with the art program has never been easier! -Create progress reports as you submit artwork. Print/email to parents immediately! -Generate take home slips or email Art Room Newsletters to keep parents in the loop. It’s FUN being part of an active, enthusiastic community of leading art educators! -Enjoy millions of artwork from students around the world. -Browse thousands of lesson plans created by teachers just like you. -Showcase your art program, share lesson plans, connect with peers and have fun doing it! Teachers participate in Artsonia for a variety of reasons. Overall, Artsonia is a comprehensive teaching tool for the art room that helps integrate technology, gets families more involved and helps art teachers bring their program to the spotlight!
