Presentation transcript:

The founders of City High School and Paulo Freire Freedom School began discussing together the creation of a 6-12 educational complex several years ago. In 2013 agreement was reached to move forward on an initiative to create such a complex.

The Initiative Included Three Components: 1.The intensive STEM redesign of the two existing schools; 2.The STEM design of a brand new third school (a 2 nd PFFS); and 3.The development of the three schools into a 6-12 complex and outreach center.

The Center Piece of the CITY 6-12 STEM - Education Complex Will Be The Renovated 21 st Century Learning Spaces at 37 East Pennington St.

There are many working examples of 21 st Century learning spaces, maker/ design spaces, and innovation labs from which to draw ideas and inspiration.

In November 2013 we gathered together significant stakeholders from the two school communities inside the space at 37 E. Pennington.

We looked at the many working examples of powerful learning spaces and then participated in a two hour ‘Design Charrette’ together. From the ideas generated during the charrette experience, the following proposals for treatment of the space were created.
