Jeff Forjan 6/24/10 DIGITAL TOOLS FOR THE CLASSROOM

Three digital tools that can make an immediate impact in your classroom:  Digital camera  Digital video recorder  Document camera  ELMO is the most common one found in Seaford classrooms  AVerMedia document cameras are on the way!

 Can be used to take pictures of students in action  The images can be inserted nicely into PowerPoint presentations

 Adding student pictures into a PowerPoint presentation gives them a feeling of ownership  Pictures help make presentations more interesting (See how much more interesting this slide is with my two sons Evan and Shane?)

 Can be used to capture student responses to share with others, presentations or other projects.  Embed videos in PowerPoint presentations  May need to convert files to.wmv files (come to my Media Conversion presentation tomorrow morning)

 ELMO  Not Elmo!  Limitations  Can only be used to project an image

 AVerMedia Document Camera  Many functions that our ELMO just didn’t have  Record videos of students showing work  Use built-in tools, Interwrite or SMART software to make notes or corrections without writing on student work  Capture images of student work to use in PowerPoint presentations  Save student work digitally
