First aid Measures Instructor: Dr. Paul Bahna

What is First aid? First aid measure is about how to help somebody who gets hurt as soon as possible with simple methods at home.

What is First aid? The most important thing is to stay calm while looking after the hurting person. If the situation is VERY BAD, you need to get help right away.

You can make a difference! There are trained people who help sick people, but you can help too if it is not too serious! Let’s learn what you can do to help! Now let’s discuss some problems and what you can do to help.

Bleeding If someone is bleeding, what can you do? Let an Adult know right away. Do NOT touch the blood. This could make you SICK too. An adult needs to wear gloves and help clean and bandage the wound.

NOSE BLEED It can happen for many reasons. Sit down, lean head forward, and breathe from the mouth. Pinch the top of the nose for couple of minutes to stop the bleeding. Ask for help from an adult. Remember NOT to touch anyone’s blood if you are trying to help someone else. This could make you sick.

Burns If a person got hurt because of fire or because hot liquid spilled on his body, quickly remove clothes, and put the area under running cold tap water for minutes. Get help right away.

Fire! If you or anyone near you catches fire, DON’T run around! The wind will make the fire stronger and burn faster. RULE: Stop! Drop! Roll! The fire will go out and you will be safe.

Conclusion It is important to practice what we learned! Today you learned how you can make a difference by knowing a few first aid tips with bloody noses and how to put out a fire. Next lesson, we will review all the information in our course. You will take an assessment when we are done! See you next time!
