2015 PSSA/Keystone Data and Information Monday, October 12, 2015 Presented by Dr. Tammy Stern

2015 PSSA Data Concerns New assessment in 2015 The State Board of Education adopted new standards for grades 3 – 8 in ELA and math in the fall of Because of the methods used at the state level, the scores were lower than they should be. There has been no massive in-servicing or funding from the state to in-service staff members across the state to prepare the students for the new content in the new standards. There is now new content at various grade levels that had not been taught or assessed as in the past.

Points to Consider Although the overall PSSA scores are a point of focus, 2015 data provided a baseline for the new assessment. Principals are required to develop Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) targeted at PVAAS data, which will serve as measureable growth goals for this year. Instructional coaches are in place at all elementary buildings and the junior high to provide on-site professional development, aimed at assisting the teachers with the teaching of the PA Common Core Standards. Due to the new PSSA and the federal waiver, the only schools which will receive an School Performance Profile will be schools that have an 11 th Grade. Therefore Senior High and CTC will receive a School Performance Profile for 2015.
